RECOGNITION BY THOSE SEEKING JUSTICE: AN INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDY OF ACCESS TO LEGAL AID IN THE NETHERLANDS

This study, conducted under the supervision of Quirine Eijkman (lecturer in Access to Justice at the Knowledge Centre for Social Innovation (KSI) at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences) and Majda Lamkaddem (associate lecturer at the Access to Justice research group and senior lecturer at the Institute for Law (IvR)), examines how legal aid is known, recognised and accessible to citizens in practice. It also examines the factors that contribute to this (both from the perspective of the organisation of legal aid and the characteristics of citizens). Particular attention will be paid to the accessibility of zero-line and first-line (legal) aid.
